One of the keys to a successful website is an attractive appearance. First impressions count, and new visitors' opinions on your website will be largely influenced by its graphic layout, before they even start to look through the contents. A well thought-out and professional-looking design gives the impression of a good quality site that is worth looking at.
WebSite X5 gives you two possibilities for designing your website:
1. you can create a custom template, either starting from scratch or from one of the default templates;
2. you can use a default template, choosing from a gallery of over 1.500 templates already included with the Program.
Both the custom templates and the default templates can be changed at will and added to, using the many features offered by the built-in editor shown in the Edit Graphic Template window.
All the default templates are optimized to be displayed at 1024 x 768 pixels. If you want to use a different resolution, use the Custom Template. |
Most of the Template selection window is dedicated to displaying the available templates. You can use the following commands to filter the templates on display, if this makes it easier for you to choose which one you want to use:
The following commands are available for working on the templates: §New Template: this starts the process of creating a new custom template from scratch. These templates will be added to the Custom category. §Rename: use this command if you want to rename a template. It can only be used on custom templates. You cannot change the name of default templates. You can also rename a custom template by clicking twice on its name. §Duplicate: this command makes a copy of the selected template. §Remove: this command deletes the selected template. You can only use it on custom templates: default templates cannot be deleted. §Edit...: this command opens the selected template in the Edit Graphic Template window so that you can edit it. It can only be used on custom templates. If you want to edit a default template you must first make a copy of it, by clicking on the Duplicate button. §Import...: this command imports a new template (a .IWTPL file) that has been created with WebSite X5 and exported. §Export...: this command exports the selected template (a .IWTPL file) to the specified folder. It can then be shared and used on other computers.
